Choose between an adverb and an adjective.

Example I walked (quickly) because I fell (coldly) I walked quickly because I felt cold

1 The roses smelt (beautiful/ly).

3 The news sounded (serious/ly), but he didn't appear (worried/ly).

7 The fire was burning (bright/ly) but it didn't feel (warm/ly) there.

8 They arrived (late/ly). The coffee tasted (fine/ly) but it was getting (cold/ly).
