Dinosaurs ("terrible lizards") - animals belonging to the class of reptiles, the archosaurs subclass. There are four archosaur: americasome dinosaurs, ornithischian dinosaurs, pterosaurs (flying reptiles) and crocodiles. The range of differences between dinosaurs was so great that kinship between them are established with great difficulty. They could be the size of a cat or chicken, and could reach the size of a huge whale. Some of them moved on four legs, others ran on their hind legs. Among them were clever hunters and bloodthirsty predators, but they were harmless and herbivorous animals.
